Christopher's adoption, april 2018

Today there are more than 25,000 New York children in foster care who need permanent, loving, and stable homes through adoption. More than 600 of them have been legally freed for adoption and are waiting for adoptive families. More than 3,000 of these children have a court ordered goal of adoption as they cannot be safely reunited with a biological family member. Most often foster children have been removed from their birth parents due to a history of neglect, abuse or parental substance abuse. While occasionally the prospect exists to adopt a baby in foster care, there is always the opportunity to adopt a toddler or an older child. Foster Adoption is FREE!  Attorney’s fees are covered by the state.  In addition, the state will provide ongoing medicaid and financial subsidies/assistance even after you finalize your child’s adoption.  Eligibility to adopt a foster child is not limited by race, religion, gender, marital status, or sexual orientation. If you are prepared to provide a loving and supportive environment to a foster child, let us help you take the next step and become an adoptive parent!

Maybe you are a relative or have a close relationship with a child in foster care, who is living in your home. You may be eligible to be a legal guardian of the child and receive financial and medical assistance to help you care for the child without terminating the parent’s rights or formally adopting. We can help you get the child out of the foster system and establish legal guardianship through the KinGap process.
